INSTRUCTIONS

I understand these instructions may not be as detailed as you need if you are not familiar at with this type of technology. I wanted to provided some assistance in accomplishing these tasks without writing extensively. I will do my best to answer any tech questions, but sometimes the best bet is to search help in Google, Youtube or call customer service with the providers.

DAY 1: GET PROFESSIONAL

DAY 1

TASK: GET A DOMAIN

STEP #1: PURCHASE DOMAIN

To get a Domain (.com, .net. .org, etc.) you need to purchase from an online domain search company. We solely use GoDaddy.com, so I will be providing you instructions on how to do so with them. But you can easily do a Google search for other companies.

Here is a blog provided by GoDaddy: Click Here

Here’s a Youtube video by Godaddy:

Basically, you search for the domain you want and make sure it’s available. Add it to your cart and create an account to purchase like any other vendor.

Domains are purchased and renewed annually. You are paying by the year to use it.

With Domains you can have it forward to another web address (like your Instagram or LinkedIn account), create a website and create an email.

STEP #2: FORWARD THE DOMAIN

Because we are not creating a website (yet) with the domain, you will need to set it up to forward to another website url.

Forwarding – means when someone types in your domain it automatically forwards them to another website url.

Here is a blog provided by Godaddy: Click Here

Choose a website url (social media – Instagram, Facebook page, LinkedIn) that’s most relevant to your professional networking, and how you want people to contact you through.

If you have any questions on how to do with Godaddy, we have experienced great customer service: Call 480-505-8877

THAT’S IT!

DAY 2: KICK OUT THE OUTDATED

DAY 2

TASK: GET A DOMAIN EMAIL / PROFESSIONAL GMAIL

CREATE A DOMAIN EMAIL

You can create a domain email using the company you purchased your domain from, from G Suite (Google), Microsoft Outlook and others you can search.

We personally use G Suite. I actually found GoDaddy’s email provider to be robust and I never really caught on to Outlook. Here are the instructions:

Here is how to create a G Suite email:

1. Go To G Suite: https://gsuite.google.com/signup/basic/welcome And follow all the instructions.

Email with G Suite costs $6/month. Do not do the free trial if you do not want to pay the monthly fee.

How to create an email with Godaddy:

1. Call them. 480-505-8877 – they will help you to set it up, easiest way, trust me.

Here are some helpful links:

Use your domain to create an email

If you have Microsft 365 Office – and want to try Outlook, again call GoDaddy and have them explain, it’s more help that way then trying to figure it out yourself.

CREATE A FORWARDING EMAIL ONLY

If you do not have a Gmail, first, go to Gmail.com and create one.

Second, follow these steps if you have Godaddy domain.

See this blog post: Godaddy: Setup my forwarding email or call.

Basically you’re creating an email with your domain (ex. hey@getcreativebranding.com) and it automatically directs any messages sent to it to your alternate email account. So your email in marketing will look professional. However, when you respond, it comes from your Gmail account. It’s the appropriate step if you’re not ready to purchase an official email.

THAT’S IT!

How to create Facebook Friends Lists

Here’s Facebook’s articles on Friends or check out this video:

Creating Facebook Friends Lists is really helpful because you can hide certain posts from lists.

Facebook started out as a private friends and family oriented platform, and it may be that way for non-entreprenurs. But for me, it’s turned into adding a lot of people I network with – som of which are future partnships, collaborations and clients. So I don’t necessary want them to see my private life. Every time I add a collegeue, I put them to a list. This takes organization; however, if you want to mix busines and personal in one account, it’s important to manage.
